Megyn Kelly is making peace with former President Donald Trump almost eight years after having a major fallout. The 52-year-old media personality is the one who broke the reconciliation news on her Megyn Kelly Show podcast on Monday.
While the revelation was quite surprising to some people, Kelly has been moving right in a more pointed way since leaving NBC in 2019.
Megyn Kelly and Donald Trump had a fallout after a 2015 presidential debate
Trump and Kelly’s relationship soured in 2015 after a rocky presidential debate, where the host asked the politician a tough question about his past treatment of women.
Mr. Trump did not like the line of questioning and called Kelly a “bimbo.” The businessman did not stop there, and later took things further during an interview with Don Lemon on CNN.
The real estate mogul stated, “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever.”
The comments caused a real uproar, and many personalities tried to distance themselves from Trump. However, the resistance did not last long, and Kelly herself later interviewed Trump on her show on Fox News in April 2016.
Kelly calls Trump “magnanimous” after a nice meeting
The drama is now over, and Kelly says she was “happy” to meet Trump at the Turning Point USA conference in Florida. They talked, and the feud is now water under the bridge.
She stated, “One of the most interesting things I did was have a private audience with former President Donald Trump.” She added: “When he came into the arena, we met just one on one; his team was standing nearby, but he and I got a one on one together for the first time in years, and it was, frankly, great to see him.”
Kelly also revealed: “All that nonsense between us is under the bridge. He could not have been more magnanimous.”
Kelly’s big statement got a lot of attention on social media. However, some critics say that she is probably hoping to land a big interview that could be on her SiriusXM show.
A few commenters are comparing Kelly to Texas Senator Ted Cruz who has still backed Trump after he called his wife, Heidi Cruz, “ugly.”
Trump is dominating conservative politics in a way that is hard to ignore.
